A topical cream with excellent qualities. Free of common allergens. Gluten and casein free. Kirkmans Zinc Sulfate Topical Cream is not a dietary supplement. This topical cream contains zinc sulfate. Zinc is present in every cell in the body and is also a component of over 200 enzymes and involved in more enzymatic reactions than any other mineral constituent in mammals. Zinc is essential for normal skin, vision, smell, taste, reproduction, brain development, protein synthesis and wound healing. It is also one of the most important factors in a healthy immune system. Zinc is involved in just about every aspect of the immune system, including the immune system enhancing T cells that are necessary for immune system response. Zinc levels in the body may be lowered for many reasons including the following: occasional diarrhea; fiber consumption, which causes zinc excretion through the intestinal tract perspiration; high calcium and iron consumption; copper ingestion. Children and adults need between 10 mg and 50 mg daily. Though the recommended daily value is 15 mg, it is generally recognized that 30% to 50% of ingested zinc is not absorbed due to complexing with phytic acid, perspiration loss, fiber transport through the intestines or because of the competition for absorption with copper, iron and calcium

Sadly full of parabens...

I'm usually a compulsive ingredient checker so in the end it's my fault, but I was really surprised to buy a topical zinc supplement, from a store called Well Being Holistic Pharmacy, with parabens in it. I'm still using it because I bought it, but pretty disappointing.
Aside from that I've only had it for a few days so can't speak to how well it works for raising zinc levels. I can say that even though my skin isn't overly sensitive I definitely had to dilute it at least 1:1 with another lotion or it stung & caused redness and irritation. Undiluted it felt similar to how straight magnesium oil feels but since it was unanticipated it was definitely uncomfortable.
Overall I definitely wouldn't purchase again due to the ingredients but I'll use it up since I paid for it.
