Stephanie Pessin is a Physical Therapist, Holistic Bodyworker, and Educator, with deep experience developing practical plans of care for continuing movement and health. For more than 20 years, she’s helped a range of people – from those who seek to prolong lifelong enjoyment of their chosen activities and sports, to injured clients dealing with the challenges of reducing pain and improving functional mobility. Her background includes Physical Therapy positions in rehab centers, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and home health settings.
The foundation of Stephanie’s practice rests on treating the individual, not just the injury, and transitioning people from thinking “they just have to live with it” to resolving the underlying cause of pain. Her approach focuses on analyzing connections between movement patterns, environments, and life habits, as they effect neurological, muscular, and skeletal dysfunctions. Through this process she can pinpoint challenges and find pathways toward comprehensive wellness.
Movement is an integral part of Stephanie’s life. Over the course of her career, she’s maintained an active interest in dance, horseback riding, and hiking, regularly sharing her knowledge of staying active and in shape through teaching. Among the programs she’s developed and taught are Pre-and-Postnatal Movement, Five Elements Exercise, Dance Exercise, and Right Exercise for Horseback Riders.
Stephanie holds her BS and Masters degrees in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy, and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Her advanced coursework and continuing education include training in the Alexander, Feldenkrais, and Pilates methodologies, as well as Zero Balancing, Myofascial, and Cranial Sacral techniques.
